Ring flanges
Description
Gear couplings with flanges (also called SAE flanges, Sitex flanges, Bowex flanges or FL flanges) are special designs. A standard gear coupling is attached to the center of the flange, while the flange is usually bolted to a motor. This type of coupling is most commonly used when bolted between diesel engines and powered equipment (e.g. hydraulic pumps, rotary lobes, compressor blades).

In the part number, the numbers after GDF refer to the maximum axis dimensions of the hub for the flange (e.g. 42/48). In the part number, the numbers after the FL symbol (6.5, 7.5, 8, 10, 11.5) refer to the SAE size of the flange according to SAEJ620 standard. In the Table, Size2 is the outer diameter of the rim in millimeters, Size3 is the number of holes on the rim and hole diameters in millimeters. The nominal outer diameters of the Sitex and Bowex flanges differ slightly, but the SAE standard bore and center design make SAE flanges (of the same numbering) made by different manufacturers interchangeable.
